ahahahaha, where do people find these?

I might be biased but Congolese dancers seemed classier back then, but I don’t think my parents would agree

Jupiter’s Dance

Jupiter’s Dance is a documentary film by R. Barret & F. de la Tullaye of Belle Kinoise Productions and takes the viewer on a musical journey through the streets of Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The film is narrated by it’s main character Jupiter Bokondji, the charismatic bandleader of Okwess International, who guides the viewer through the streets of Kinshasa meeting musicians, artists and citizens of all sorts along the way.

It chronicles the beauty, tenacity, wisdom and struggle of Jupiter and the other musicians in Kinshasa and their quest to break out of the ghetto.

It is imperative that you watch this documentary. The sheer ingenuity and talent displayed by these musicians will blow you away. And what a message for us fellow Africans.

The DVD is available here.

I like how the other guy says at the end: This is the world’s capital and Jupiter replies: Yep, but for now it’s shit. They just conveyed how Congolese see Kinshasa.
