I was kind of surprised to fall upon this video, Congolese people marrying into other cultures isn’t that rare anymore but I’ve had never heard of a Congolese woman and Chinese man getting together. There are quite a lot of Chinese/Korean people living in Congo, mostly men who set up businesses and as such so it should not be too surprising but you see …Congolese people have a saying called ‘Biso Na Biso’ which means ‘Keep ourselves between ourselves ‘.Out of all the Africans I’ve ever encountered…Nigerians, Ghanaians, Zambian, Zimbabwean ,Togolese ,South African and Kenyan I have to say that my own people of Congo are the most over protective of our culture ,in the sense that dating and marrying someone that is not Congolese is DEEPLY frowned up. But it may be that in recent years this way of thinking has gone down and people are starting to become more open minded.

Globalization has changed things all around for everyone and all this chauvinism about conserving one’s culture is hopeless because of colonialism and capitalism. Eastern societies and African societies have a lot in common in terms of patriarchy, respect of ancestors and animism. I don’t think this is a stretch despite what people say about these marriages.
